How does Wegovy work?
Wegovy contains semaglutide and mimics the action of the body’s own hormone, GLP-1. The medicine has been developed for weight management and primarily influences processes relating to appetite, satiety and food intake.

Semaglutide affects areas of the brain involved in regulating appetite.

You may feel full sooner and for longer, which can lead to a reduction in your overall food intake.

How is Wegovy put together?
Wegovy is administered in a step-by-step manner. The gradual increase helps the body get used to semaglutide and is intended to minimise gastrointestinal side effects during the build-up phase.
Once a weekIf side effects occur, your doctor may decide to adjust the dosage schedule or to continue on a lower dose for longer. Always follow your personal prescription.

How much weight can you lose with Wegovy?
In the STEP 1 study, adults who were overweight or obese but did not have diabetes lost an average of 14.9% of their body weight whilst taking 2.4 mg of semaglutide, alongside lifestyle counselling.
In the study, more than 8 out of 10 participants achieved a weight loss of at least 5%.
