Operation

How does Wegovy work?

Wegovy contains semaglutide and mimics the action of the body’s own hormone, GLP-1. The medicine has been developed for weight management and primarily influences processes relating to appetite, satiety and food intake.

01

Less hunger

Semaglutide affects areas of the brain involved in regulating appetite.

02

Greater satiety

You may feel full sooner and for longer, which can lead to a reduction in your overall food intake.

03

Support with weight loss

When combined with a balanced diet and increased physical activity, this can lead to significant weight loss.

Wegovy is authorised for weight management in adults who meet the medical criteria. A doctor will assess whether this is appropriate for you.

Dosage & administration

How is Wegovy put together?

Wegovy is administered in a step-by-step manner. The gradual increase helps the body get used to semaglutide and is intended to minimise gastrointestinal side effects during the build-up phase.

Would you like to know if Wegovy might be right for you?

Start with the BMI check. You’ll first receive an indication of whether you might be eligible. We will then assess your medical condition, and a doctor will determine whether treatment with Wegovy, or another treatment option, is safe and appropriate.

Medical assessment Personalised treatment plan registered for weight management

The BMI check provides an initial indication. A doctor will ultimately determine whether treatment is medically justified and which treatment is best suited to your situation.
